About this place
Between precisely crafted pieces of nigiri, seasonal small plates and appetizers arrive at a well-judged pace. Nishiazabu Sushi Karin offers an unhurried, approachable setting where guests can relax over an omakase meal centered on seasonal seafood.
The menu features courses tailored to different occasions, ranging from a seasonal nigiri course for a lighter taste of the market to a selected ingredient course featuring six seasonal appetizers, ten nigiri, and soup, as well as a special omakase course that incorporates sashimi and grilled fish. From kelp-cured cuts to white fish accented with sudachi citrus, each piece showcases meticulous craftsmanship, served on neatly defined, compact mounds of sushi rice.
Enjoying drinks alongside the food is another highlight of the venue. Alongside a Kiwami course that features four to six sake pairings tailored to the chef's dishes, the restaurant stocks regional bottles from across Japan according to the season, including Kokuryu from Fukui, Yukimanman from Yamagata, and Denshu from Aomori. Diners can explore pairings through chilled sake, warm selections such as Kuzuryu Kantanoshi, and a choice of wines and Champagne.
With its calm ambiance and easy conversation across the counter with the chef, the dining room provides a comfortable environment for solo guests as well as special evenings out. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner, and booking in advance is recommended.
